Disclaimer

I sometimes write about healing, self-help, personal development, or spiritual development. However, I want to make it clear that I’m not a licensed professional of any kind. I speak strictly from experience and research in what I believe to be reputable sources. I can’t, however, guarantee that what I present on these pages is accurate or complete. Any actions you take based on information presented on this site must be strictly your responsibility, and by using this site, you’re acknowledging that you understand that.

If working with any of the material on this site causes you distress, please don’t hesitate to seek help. I went through a tough time when I first recognized that I’d been abused and really wanted some support, but I was convinced that I couldn’t afford counseling. A friend of mine found a low-cost local organization that charged a sliding scale. Even though I could only afford to go for a short time, it got me through a rough period.

Family and friends are the best for recommending understanding therapists. If they don’t know then check if there’s an information referral service in your area that can direct you to counseling facilities. If not, the phone book or the Internet should have local organizations that offer mental health services. Even if they can’t help you directly, they’ll probably be able to refer you to a place that can. For those living in the United States, the Department of Health and Human Services has a national Mental Health Treatment Facility Locator that might be useful.
